Rituals During Holashtak & Holika Dahan

Rituals During Holashtak & Holika Dahan

Holashtak is not a “bad” period.

It is a heating period.

The eight days before Holi are energetically intense.

Emotions rise. Karma surfaces. Old patterns come up to be seen.

In old India, this was not a time to start something new.

It was a time to purify.

During Holashtak (The 8 Days Before Holi)

This is a cleansing window.

Not for weddings.

Not for new contracts.

Not for major launches.

But excellent for:

Salt Cleansing

Place small bowls of rock salt in corners of the home.

Replace every 3 days.

Salt absorbs emotional residue.

Daily Bath Reset

Add a handful of rock salt or nazar salt to your bath daily.

As water flows, say:

“Let all heaviness burn away.”

Holashtak brings up stored emotions — don’t carry them.

Burn Camphor at Sunset

Light kapoor in the house daily during these days.

It clears stagnant energy quickly.

Move clockwise through your space.

Fasting / Light Eating

Keep digestion light.

Less processed food.

Less sugar.

Less emotional indulgence.

When fire energy rises, simplify.

Journal Old Patterns

Holashtak exposes:

• anger

• jealousy

• resentment

• ego

Instead of reacting — observe.

This period is karmic review.

Rituals on Holika Dahan (Bonfire Night)

This is the energetic climax.

Holika Dahan is symbolic.

Ego burns.

Negativity burns.

Old versions burn.

Here is what to do:

Offer Mustard Seeds or Cloves

Take:

7 mustard seeds or 7 cloves

Circle them around your head clockwise 7 times.

Throw them into the fire.

This removes nazar and stored negativity.

Write & Burn

Write one habit or pattern you are ready to release.

Fold it.

Offer it to the fire (safely).

Watch it burn.

Do not look back.

Salt Release

Take a pinch of rock salt.

Hold it in your palm.

Transfer your heaviness into it.

Offer it to the fire or throw it outside later.

Protect After the Fire

When you return home:

Apply a tiny black dot behind your ear or on your ankle.

Seal your energy.

The fire clears — but you must protect after.

The Morning After (Holi)

Wake early.

Apply a little haldi + water to your feet.

It grounds you after intense fire energy.

Holashtak is not unlucky.

It is transformative.

It heats what must be purified.

And Holika Dahan is not just ritual.

It is energetic reset.
